This year we have responded to 934 phonecalls, 23000 texts, 340 emails and 45 webchats.
Our service managers have trained 27 volunteers who have offered 3000 hours of support to
vulnerable women in distress and got immediate help to 13 actively suicidal clients at
imminent risk of ending their lives. We assess the impact of the support we offer through
‘distance travelled’ questions and anonymous annual evaluations. In our 2019 evaluations
over 70% of respondents reported that our support had helped them to reduce the severity
and/or frequency of their self harm or stop altogether. User feedback consistently states that
the women who contact us get in touch because we are specialists in self harm, and they
value our approach of non-judgemental, non-directive, person centred support. Over 50% of
clients report that if they had not been able to contact us there was no one else they could
have contacted for support. We have installed two additional phone lines to increase service
capacity and we have also upgraded our text and webchat support software to increase
service efficiency and data collection and aim to expand this to our helpline service soon.
