Support for 50 Multi disabled children

Dear Friends,
We are extremely happy to submit the quarterly report of our project for Children with Multiple disABILITIES.
We wholeheartedly appreciate and acknowledge the support of the donors through Global Giving community.
Your valuable donation has been utilised provide residential education, training & rehabilitation for the children with disabilities.
This is the on-going project, in our project we have children with Multiple disabilities (Visually Impairment with Mentally challenged or Hearing Loss and physically disabled).
The back ground of these children are socially, economically back ward and they are severe disabled due to malnutrition. These children are neglected by their parents. Hence Divine Light is providing free residential education and appropriate training in Horticulture, Craft and Music and Tailoring, Braille, Orientation and Mobility, Parent counselling, Medical intervention, social skills and self help care etc… in order to bring them to the mainstream.
The following are the highlights of this quarter:-
April 2016 ….. Children appeared for 10th class Public Examination and secured distinction in the
public exam.
May 2016 ….. We have conducted a Survey of the disabled Children in and around Bangalore.
24th May 2016 …… Parents training and counselling programme was conducted.
1st June 2016 ….. Admission of New children with disabilities
6th June 2016 ….. Identification and assessment of children with disabilities.
20th June 2016 ..... Celebration of Helen Keller Day
The Success story of Ravikiran
Ravikiran is 16 year old, he is Visually Impaired with Learning disability. He came to our Institution at the age of 12 years. He come from very poor family and he was neglected by his parents.
Therefore we admitted Ravikiran to our center after Medical Intervention we began his training with : self-help care, Pre-braille, Braille reading & writing, Orientation and Mobility training, social skills music and Dance. Due to the intensive & individual attention, he has come-up very well and developed self – confidence.
Then we began regular curriculum and he appeared for 10th class public examination conducted by the Govt. of Karnataka in the month of April 2016 and he secured Distinction in the public exam and now he is persuading his higher studies.
We wish him all the success for his future.
We take this opportunity to thank in a special way to Global Giving and to all our donors who have contributed generously for the benefit of the children with disABILITIES.
