Our work in Gotani is growing rapidly, with more children arriving daily as relationships of trust develop between them, our staff, and the community. Football is a key entry point; the young people were thrilled to join a league, building their confidence through competitive play. We were also proud that our pitch was nominated as the best in the competition. The children’s attachment to this space was captured perfectly by one young person when a staff member planned to take a break: "You can take your rest, but we will still come. This is the only place where we meet our friends." This underscores that Gotani is far more than just a football pitch. It is a vital sanctuary where they can meet friends, play, belong, and feel genuinely safe and connected. We are further encouraged that several local parents are engaged as casual construction workers, providing them an income and household support. There is still much work ahead, but the children’s growth reaffirms the importance of our mission. We are deeply grateful to Avisant Consulting and all individual supporters for helping us create this essential space that the children now proudly call their own
