To our amazing donors: Thank you.
As you know, the effects of Covid-19 have spread far and wide, including to some of the most beautiful areas of our world...As a result of the global pandemic we collectively face, Zimbabwe's National Parks are underfunded. With parks closed, there is no access to income. One of the effects of this lack of income is the fact that poaching incidents continue to rise. With limited tour operators in the region - that often act as a deterrent to poaching - this problem is exacerbated.
This in turn meant that the national parks - that otherwise provide food for 340 rangers and their families - are less able to do so.
We are so grateful for all the donations that have come in to support both the wildlife and the rangers whose families are affected most by a decrease of tourism in the region. It's because of your generous donations that over 300 rangers are able to carry forward their important work of protecing our wildlife. As of right now, ration deliveries have been running for over six months, having started in September 2020. We currently supply 1060kg of meat on a monthly basis to rangers, where each ranger receives 10kg per month. This will increase by another 80kg.
Your donations have been able to support patroling and nutritious meals to 340 rangers and their families for at least one year. What an important way to combat the rising wildlife crime in National Parks.
