Teen Program Growing to Support More At-Risk Youth

By Kyondra Kennard | Teen Programs

For 25 years Inspire Youth Project has provided children and teens affected by HIV/AIDS with vital emotional and social support. Our programing and support includes mentoring, support groups, summer camp

Teens at Inspire Youth Project are provided missing social and emotional support. Recently our focus has emerged to offer an educational piece that will provide our teens with important skills and resources that they are otherwise missing. A professor from the University Washington with a PhD in adolescent psychology has become as a partner in organizing the information that will be taught at our next teen retreat. Working together we will develop the most effective way to help teens become more prepared for the anxieties and pressures of being a teenager. We are seeking funds to help pay for transportation costs, food, materials, and lodging for this event. Our goal is to give our teens the information, support, and stability they often lack at home. After the weekend teens should have a clearer understanding about the importances of desion making, sexual education, and having healthy boundries. This support will be continued in our support groups and mentorship.
