Project Report | Feb 17, 2016
Reaching the Unreached

By Fredrick Ouko | Executive Director

Receiving a white cane

Dear Friend,

We want to thank you for remaining steadfast in supporting the work that we do here in Kenya,it is through your commitment to this work that we were able to reach a population that would ordinarily be left out of any development project that goes on in our society.

No one thinks about prisoners who have a disability in our prisons, but through your support;the project was able to identify the needs of these prisoners who were lacking essential assistive devices that can help them navigate their way while serving their prison terms.

We found out that majority of them were lacking wheelchairs, white canes, amongst other essentials which made their prison-life very inhuman considering that one had to crawl down through dirty floors or wait on their fellows for them to get directions around the prison facility for those who are blind.

We believe that a prison is a correctional facility and should therefore not be a dehumanising facility for those with a disability. This is exactly what your support has enabled us achieve when we visited the Kamiti Maximum Prison and donated wheelchairs and other assistive devices.

Your contributions has enabled us impact positively the lives of prisoners with disabilities at Kamitti Maximum Prison,we cant thank you enough on their behalf.

We look forward to your continued support and those of friends in carrying on with this kind of work that is dearly needed in our society.

Thank you so much
