Summary

The cost to keep junior golfers on course is above the average amount that most Bahamian parents can afford. We have seen the positive outcomes of many youth who have had the chance to be in the program through scholarship assistance. We want to be able to continue this for these students and new entries to replace those who graduate. In the first year, the program can support up to 20 students. Each year, 10+ students will be added based on funding, until we reach 100 golfers in the program.

Challenge

Junior golf has a real chance to grow in The Bahamas. However, the cost for instruction and tournaments is a barrier for entry. We have seen talent emerge from the hosting of the school golf championships. We need to be able to transition this talent into the junior golf program by securing adequate funding.

Solution

This project will allow for the proper transition of junior golfers from the school golf program to the junior golf program. It will allow the steady growth of youth golfers in The Bahamas. It will allow talent to emerge as financial inhibitors would have been removed.

Long-Term Impact

We will see a 200% increase in the amount of youth golfers in The Bahamas. We will see more Bahamian youth earning college golf scholarships, now that they do not have to worry about the cost barrier.
