By Mark Reekie | Project Leader
Greetings from the Philippines!
I want to thank all of our friends and donors for helping us help the residents of Olongo Island, Visayas, Philippines. In December of last year Super Typhoon Odette devastated Olongo Island and subsequently we began this campaign to help those residents rebuild their lives.
With your donations we were able to supply them with several hundried pounds of food, many, many boxes of clothing, and over 300 sheets of galvanized roofing for their rebuilt homes. The residents have always received your gifts with true excitement, humility, and thanksgiving for those that helped them! There is still lots of rebuilding to do on Olongo, but the people now have a start and the greatest asset, hope!
We will be closing this campaign on the GlobalGiving website, but if you wish to give again please contact Mark and Elgie on Siquijor. Our special thanks go out to Elgie and the museum staff for packing and shipping boxes, and especially to Rollie & Perla on Mactan for coordinating delivery and communication of their needs.
Thanks again to all!
