Thank you for your generous donation to the Sudan Emergency Fund.

Amid the ongoing crisis in Sudan, your generosity is helping nonprofit partners provide medical care, humanitarian assistance, and employment opportunities to families even after displacement.

This support comes at a critical time. Sudan’s humanitarian response plan remains only 41% resourced, funding cuts threaten hospital closures, and ongoing violence continues to displace thousands.

Through ongoing research and close relationships with our nonprofit partners, we're learning where resources can be most useful and directing funding toward the priorities local organizations identify.

Here is a short description of the work your contribution is now supporting:

  • Sudanese American Medical Association (SAMA) continues to provide medical care to communities and respond to disease outbreaks in crisis-affected areas of Sudan. With GlobalGiving support, SAMA also plans to train future medical professionals and strengthen community capacity to deliver healthcare services.
  • Darfur Women Network (DWN) is supporting displaced families with humanitarian aid packages and longer-term livelihood opportunities. As one example, DWN just completed a successful pilot program that provided families affected by violence in El Fasher with tools, mentoring, and funding to start businesses, along with support for agricultural programs. DWN can expand participant numbers thanks to your support.

Truly, your generosity never goes unappreciated. As the team at SAMA shared: “This support will make a meaningful difference for the communities we serve, and we don't take it for granted”.

Here at GlobalGiving, we do not take it for granted either. We thank you again for your solidarity and for standing with the Sudanese people.

With gratitude,

Kyra + the GlobalGiving Team

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
