Thank you so much for your generous contributions.
We have so many success stories but here is one of!
Bishani grew up in Laprak village. She was approached a number of times by abroad employment brokers for Hong Kong and the Middle East. She was told by the brokers that she would be sent to Hong Kong for a babysitter job. After so many offers, she agreed to go and took a loan for 400,000 Nepalese Rupee, equivalent to $4,500 to pay the brokers.
We were notified by her relatives and brought her to our residential campus in Kathmandu. She took a 9 months intensive sewing course.
Today, she is working in Kathmandu and making $250-$300 a month. She had never ever thought of making these much money especially in Nepal. She is the happiest young women.
She tried to get back her money from the brokers; however she was unable to due to lack of proof of payment. Our volunteers also tried to help her recoup her money but were unsuccessful. Since there was no proof of payment, the brokers threaten her and our volunteers.
We had 15 young women taking vocational trainings in our residential campus in Kathmandu before or during the earthquakes. After the earthquakes, we had to send them back to their villages to look after their parents, sisters and brothers.
Regrettably, the sewing machines JHF provided to 20 young women were destroyed in the massive 2015 earthquakes. They need new sewing machines right away to start working again.
We will be bringing the 15 young girls back to Kathmandu to continue their vocational training in January 2016.
Currently we only have two young girls in our residential campus in kathmandu who are continuing their eudcation.
Nepali young girls are ever more in risk of being trafficked after the earthquake due to the lack economy condition in their villages. JHF is there to provide hope to these young girls by providing vocational trainings.
Your tax-deductible gift to JHF will help provide vocational training to needy young women and help support their families!
