HIV continues to affect vulnerable women and children in many communities across Tanzania, limiting their health, education, and economic opportunities. This project aims to reduce new HIV infections through prevention education, testing services, counseling, and access to treatment support. Special attention will be given to pregnant women, adolescent girls, and children at risk of infection. Community outreach activities will increase awareness and reduce stigma surrounding HIV.
Many women and children lack access to accurate information about HIV prevention and treatment. Poverty, stigma, and gender inequality often prevent women from seeking testing and healthcare services. Children born to HIV-positive mothers remain at risk when prevention services are unavailable or inaccessible. Rural communities frequently experience shortages of health resources and trained personnel. These challenges contribute to ongoing HIV transmission and poor health outcomes for vulnerables
The project will provide community HIV awareness campaigns, voluntary testing, and counseling services. Pregnant women will receive support to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV. Women and youth groups will be trained as peer educators to promote prevention and healthy behaviors. Educational materials, referrals, and treatment adherence support will be provided to affected families. Partnerships with local health facilities will strengthen access to HIV care and monitoring services.
Women and children will have improved access to HIV prevention, testing, and treatment services. New HIV infections among vulnerable populations will decrease over time. Families will experience better health, productivity, and quality of life. Increased awareness will reduce stigma and encourage community support for people living with HIV. Stronger community health systems will contribute to sustainable HIV prevention and care for future generations.
