2024 was a year of trying to keep our precious Maasai girls away from marriage and in school. The number of girls seeking assistance exploded with more than 120 girls coming to us for support at the end of 2023. Thankfully, one-time donors have kept those girls in school through 2025, but 54 girls need support for 2026 to remain in secondary school. Osotuwa Foundation revenues increased by approximately 50% in 2024, but a total of $32,400 is additionally needed by December 2025. We seek sponsors that make an 8-year commitment to ensure the girls’ educational success and safety from forced marriage.
As Maasai parents seek education for their daughters, bringing an end to the practice of forced childhood marriage, there is an accelerated need for additional funding. While public school tuition is free in Tanzania, $600/year supports their living expenses, since each girl leave their parent’s home and lives at the school.
More than 300 girls have been helped by brothers Isaya and Nguvu. Through the help of our organization, 25 girls have graduated thus far. 21 are working in the fields listed below, and 4 are working in microbusinesses within our communities or through their homes. The photos below show graduates of secondary school, college and university.
Attached is a photo of some of the confident graduates in December, 2024.
