Rosie's Rainbow Fund has been pleased to welcome qualified Music Therapist Natasha Larkin from Chiltern Music Therapy to the wards at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

Natasha is partly funded by the money raised on the Global Challenge crowdfunding appeal on Global Giving earlier this year. She has taken over temporarily from Andy Roberts, but we hope that when Andy returns to Stoke in the new year, we will be able to keep Natasha on as well.

To this end, thanks to you our donors we are now permanent members of Global Giving and we will be using the Global Giving donation platform to launch an on going appeal to help with the cost of both therapists.

Currently the therapist has to split their time between the Spinal Unit and the General Ward and it would be wonderful if we could afford to have both therapists at the hospital on a permanent basis.

What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is a therapeutic intervention using music, which looks at creating change and improvements in communication, physical, social, cognitive and emotional needs.

Music Therapy helps people with functional needs, such as helping develop skills in cognition, speech & communication or motor skills. We also help people with psychological needs, working on emotional well-being & mental health issues. Music Therapy uses the influence of music to affect specific behaviours and outcomes and is a clinical and evidence-based process, tailored to each individual’s goals.

It is thanks to you our donors that we are able to provide this much needed service to the young patients at Stoke Mandeville.

We will be in touch again soon to let you know exactly how the funding is going and also when we launch the appeal for funding for Natasha which will be in the New Year.In fact we will launch it January the 1st 2016!
