During the last three months (June – August 2019), the fundraising campaign of the Bulgarian Library and Information Association (BLIA) for the project "Stimulating Early Childhood Reading in Bulgaria" collected 14 dollars from 1 donor.
The selection of children's books for purchase and libraries for inclusion in the project continues.
From the selected 29 libraries with over 2000 visits (for 2017 or 2018) from the whole country, 10 libraries were selected to be included in the project. Options for including 4 more libraries are being discussed.
From the list of selected children's books were made 4 proposals for the purchase of books, which include 73, 91, 143 and 148 titles respectively. It remains to be decided which of the proposals has been accepted for implementation.
We have received an official letter from the Ministry of Education and Science informing us that, in connection with our project, they would provide us free of charge 880 books – 88 new children's books for each of the selected libraries. The condition is to provide access to and information on donated books for children attending kindergartens and their parents in the settlements.
