STEM Scholarships for Low-Income Female Students

Project Report | Apr 28, 2026
Hope, Education & Empowerment

By Sohair Omar | Vice Chair

With your generous support, Afghanistan-Pakistan Women’s Economic Empowerment (APWEE) is sponsoring three STEM scholars in Balochistan, Pakistan’s poorest province, as they enter their third academic year. Because of your commitment, these talented young women are on track to graduate soon with bachelor’s degrees—an achievement that would not have been possible without your support.

  • Amina’s academic excellence was evident when she earned distinction in her Faculty of Science examinations. Her father, a skilled carpenter, supports a family of eight children on a modest income, making it difficult to finance Amina’s dream of becoming a Pharmacist. Living in a remote area of Balochistan, Amina was admitted to the newly established Balochistan University's Pishin Campus. With APWEE’s support, she is thriving academically as the only female student in her class.
  • Dilawaiz is from Quetta, Balochistan, where her family has faced ongoing financial hardship. She aspires to become a Doctor of Physiotherapy and was admitted to Alhamd Islamic University. Recognizing her promise and determination, Government Girls Postgraduate College in Quetta, Balochistan referred her to APWEE for scholarship support.
  • Nasima is a member of the Hazara community, which has faced marginalization and serious security challenges in Balochistan. Raised by her mother, a single parent who works tirelessly washing carpets to provide for the family, Nasima is passionate about mathematics and hopes to one day serve in a government agency.

Financial assistance enables these students to complete their education free from the burden of economic hardship. Your contributions help cover their educational expenses, including tuition and fees, books, Internet access, and transportation. Your continued support is helping them build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Thanks to your generosity, we plan to sponsor another cohort of STEM scholars in the next academic year. Investments in education have the power to transform lives, uplift families, and break the cycle of generational poverty. Thank you again, truly.
