This program will empower resource poor women of the community to become professional drivers and earn their livelihoods with dignity by taking up employment . Unemployed women are trained in driving for a period of three months and are placed as cab drivers or chauffeurs in corporate once the driving license is acquired. Training curriculum includes communications skills, life skills and spoken English along with driving lessons. We empower them to become confident citizens in the community.
India has a gender biased society.Many women from the under privileged community lack the opportunity to use their full potential and are unemployed. They lack the much needed skills to take up employment. Driving is looked upon as a profession only meant for men. Another issue is the alarming cases of sexual violence among women travelling to work at odd hours that has made headlines in the country. This issue needs to be addressed at the earliest.
Through this project, unemployed women are trained for a period of 3 months on learning how to drive along with communication skills, life skills,spoken English, self-defense etc. Once driving license is acquired they are placed as cab drivers in corporate for the women employees. This project will provide employment opportunities to the underprivileged women to become financially independent and provide security to women employees of the corporate travelling to work at odd hours.
Through this program we target 500 women drivers, who will contribute to the income of their family.They will get an Indian monthly wage of Rs. 8000-12000/-. This will enhance their standard of living. Provision of a transport service for women, by women will reduce vulnerability of users, enabling women to integrate themselves into the wider workforce and society.
