By Leonardo Tross | State Response Emergency Unit Coordinator
We have been trying to raise enough for the SERU for a few years now, and will continue doing so. Although we haven't reached the minimum financial goal to guarantee the required training and equipment for all members, this hasn't and won't ever deter the work.
On september 12, 2026, we will have a new round of recruitment and selection for 60 new SERU members.
The training of this team will take 18 months, with the first field activities starting as soon as two months in.
Not having the ideal kind or amount of equipment and training due to financial hardship is no excuse, our most valuable asset are the people involved who donate their time and energy in preparing and responding to emergencies, and we will keep investing on them and maintaining the unit.
