St. Damien Pediatric Hospital Report
![]()
As we begin a new year, we carry both remembrance and hope in our hearts.
In January, we paused to mark the sixteenth anniversary of Haiti’s devastating 2010 earthquake. We remembered the lives lost, including members of the NPH family, and honored the resilience of the Haitian people. At St. Damien Pediatric Hospital, remembrance is not only reflection. It is renewed commitment. Every day, our staff continues to provide quality, humane, and dignified care guided by compassion and deep purpose.
On the very first morning of 2026, that commitment was visible in the most beautiful way. Just after midnight on January 1, our team welcomed the first baby of the year, a healthy baby boy born on the 222nd anniversary of Haiti’s independence. His arrival was a symbol of hope for his family and for our entire hospital community. Every birth at St. Damien reflects the trust families place in our doctors, nurses, and staff. Because of you, high risk mothers and vulnerable newborns receive the care they deserve.
We also continue to see lives transformed through our Malnutrition Program. Ten month old Roodley arrived weak and suffering from severe acute malnutrition. With pediatric care, nutritional therapy, and physiotherapy, he began to regain strength within days. Soon he was smiling and playing again. His recovery is a reminder that timely, compassionate intervention changes the course of a child’s life.
As 2026 unfolds, your generosity allows St. Damien to remain a beacon of healing in Haiti. Thank you for standing with us in remembrance, resilience, and renewed hope.
Together, we continue in service of life.
