Since we started paying more attention to the children affected by this climatic tragedy, we understood that sport could be a way for all of them to express themselves and enjoy everyday activities again. That is why, thanks to resources received from donations, we were able to start with a group of 20 children, in a really affected school, in the city of Sinimbu: "EMEF Nossa Senhora da Glória". The school had huge losses, and the water entered up 2 meters high.
During the first meeting, balls were donated to each of the schools. We had a basketball practice activity and after the group snack, we talked with a professional basketball player and a psychologist about relevant and fundamental topics to help in the emotional recovery of all.
During the development of the practical activities, we were able to experience the anxiety that many of them are experiencing after the floods, as well as some of them are suffering panic attacks, whose "initial trigger" are small sudden noises or falls of blunt objects.
With the resources received, 6 meetings were planned in total, which we will show in upcoming reports.
Your donation is essential for this project can reach more communities and serve more affected children!.
