Dear Frinds and Partners,
Greeting from Sunshine Cambodia!
Hope this mail will find you well and blessed.
Overview of the Project:
The SC’s project is designed to improve the living conditions and reduce poverty within the families that SC has worked with as well as to focus on the implementation of the children’s basic rights. By June 2018, Sunshine Cambodia (SC) is working in five poor communities in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, including a new area expanded in November 2017 – Sansom Kosal, Thn out Chhrum, Steoung Mean Chey, Prey Tea and Tropiang Anchagn. SC’s project has benefited around 350 children (Male: 166 = 47.40%, Female: 184 =52.60%) from 240 families and approximately 1223 family members (Male: 569 = 46.5% and female: 654 = 53.5%).
This project has implemented with both children and their parents. Children were supported to attend formal education in both state and private schools. They received school materials and extra tuition for extra courses such as English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Khmer and computer skills. In addition, SC’s staff has conducted the children’s club weekly, the youth’s and parents’ club quarterly. By involving in clubs those children, youth, and their parents have learned various topics that relevant to their lives and families. Moreover, the project’s staff have worked directly with both fathers and mothers by spending their time with them to do a home visit and case management. This led them to know more about their family situation and needs. It is also to build a close relationship with all beneficiaries. The project’s staff also has provided counseling, parenting skills, vocational and Micro Enterprise Development (MED) training, start-up capital, as well as emergency relief to those families.
We are glad to see many boys, girls, youth and their family have shown they are improving from day to day. Many of them have got knowledge and skills. Some are studying at university and some have jobs. Some families managed to run a small business, while some of them bought some necessary stuff for their family’s needs.
