Hi friends!
Let read and be inspired by a story from one of our children.
"I am very pleased to see my family are improving"
Sophany is 15 years old. She is at grade 9 at a high school in Phnom Penh. She has a brother, Sophanan, 14 years old, who is at grade 7 and a child in SC’s program. Her father works at a cow’s skin store. Her mother sells Cambodian noodle at a street side near by her house. They live Thnout Chhrum village. Her family living standard was struggled. Her parents have to work very hard to earn for daily income just for food. Then, they struggled with caring children at home and no much time for checking their study. Study materials, school fee and materials are also their concerns. Her father had to work very hard very day as a worker as well as her mother did.Her parents sometimes quarreled and fighting with one another. This made Sophany unhappy and worry. She became a girl who did not like talking much and did not have good relationship with other kids.
Since her family was accepted into SC’s program in 2016, Sophany and her brother were supported school fee and got study materials, bicycles, uniforms from Sunshine Cambodia. By then, her family life has changed notably. Her mother was able to start a new business. She sells Cambodia noodle. Moreover, her mother has more time to look after her and her brother. Her mother and father have better relationship.
“I am very pleased to see my family are improving. Now, my brother and I go to school happily and live joyfully. My parent have time for us and sometimes they asked and check our study,” said Sophany.
She added that, “Before I don’t have money to study extra courses because of my family is poor. My study was not good and appreciated for my parents did not have time to follow up my study, especially my father who has to work a full day at the cow’s skin store. But now my parents have spent more time with me and with my brother. They sometimes ask and check about our study result. I am so happy to see them be with us and concern about our study.”
Her Khmer teacher at Dambok Khpos High School, who teaches her said that, “Sophany has changed a lot. Before she was very quiet, but now she talk more friendly and a very brave girl. With no much friends, but now she has built good relationship with many friends at school. Moreover, she is a good and clever student. She always gets good score.”
Lastly, Sophany said, ”Actually, I feel very happy that I am able study particularly the extra courses. This helps me to get good result from school. I would like to thank to Sunshine Cambodia and donors who support my study.”
There are many other children like Sophany who need our help so that they can respore their hope and better future.
Please continue to support Sophany and other children.
We wish you good health, joy and blessed.
Best regards,
