Dear Supporters and Well Wishers,
We are pleased to share a progress update on our ongoing initiative to provide nutritious, plant-based lunches to 1,500 school children across 10 schools in the Kigezi region of Uganda. As we move through 2026, we remain encouraged by the steady progress made even as we continue working toward reaching our full funding goal.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and community partners, we are currently providing free, nutritious meals to 20 students each term. While this is a small portion of our overall target, it represents an important proof of concept. The results so far have been both measurable and inspiring , teachers report improved concentration in class, while students show higher energy levels and increased school participation. These early outcomes reinforce the critical link between proper nutrition, learning ability, and long-term development.
Beyond meal provision, we are strengthening the sustainability of the program. We have expanded our efforts to train school cooks in preparing balanced, plant-based meals using locally available ingredients. At the same time, we are supporting schools in establishing and maintaining kitchen gardens an initiative that not only supplements school meals but also serves as a hands-on learning opportunity for students in nutrition and agriculture.
In response to rising food costs and ongoing food security challenges in the region, these sustainability efforts are more important than ever. By equipping schools with practical skills and resources, we are building a model that can grow independently and remain resilient over time.
Looking ahead, our priority is to scale this impact to reach all 1,500 children. With your continued partnership, we can expand meal coverage, deepen community engagement, and strengthen local food systems. Each contribution no matter the size brings us closer to ensuring that every child in Kigezi has the nourishment they need to learn, thrive, and build a brighter future.
Thank you for standing with us and believing in this mission.
With gratitude,
