Dear Friends and Supporters,
We are delighted to share the latest updates from the Chude and Ego Foundation's OSNON Academy, where your generous contributions have been instrumental in providing free, quality education to children in rural communities. Your unwavering support has enabled us to create a nurturing environment where our students can thrive and reach their full potential.
Celebrating Together: End-of-Year Carol & Festivities
On December 18, 2024, just before the close of school for the holidays, our school community came together for the annual End-of-Year 9 Lessons/Carol Service. This joyous occasion was filled with inspiring messages, melodious carols, and heartfelt performances by our talented students. The school choir, under the leadership of David from Year 7A, captivated the audience with their harmonious rendition of classic carols. A highlight of the event was the drama presentation, We Three Kings of Orient, which showcased the creativity and enthusiasm of our students. The celebration fostered a sense of unity and joy, reminding us all of the importance of community and togetherness.
A Fresh Start: School Resumption and Student Engagements
The new term commenced on January 14, 2025, with a First General Assembly that set the tone for the months ahead. Our Head of School, Dr. Arinze Izuegbunam, welcomed students and staff, outlining the term's activities and reaffirming our commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment. Emphasizing the importance of safeguarding and a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, we aim to ensure that every student feels secure and valued.
Embracing Global Initiatives: International Education Day
On January 23, 2025, OSNON Academy proudly joined the global community in celebrating International Education Day. Our students engaged in insightful presentations on the Nigerian education system and participated in a stimulating debate on the role of artificial intelligence in education. These activities encouraged critical thinking and highlighted the significance of human agency in the learning process. The day concluded with students creating educational posters, reflecting their aspirations and commitment to learning.
Prioritizing Safety: Fire Safety Training
Ensuring the safety of our students and staff is paramount. In collaboration with the Anambra State Fire Service, we conducted a comprehensive Fire Safety Training on January 23, 2025. Students, including Prosper from Year 8A and Esther from Year 8B, actively participated in practical demonstrations on the use of fire extinguishers. The training culminated in OSNON Academy being awarded a Safety Certificate, underscoring our dedication to maintaining a secure learning environment.
Investing in Excellence: Staff Capacity Building
To continually enhance the quality of education we provide, our faculty members engaged in a two-day Training and Workshop on January 24-25, 2025. The sessions included a review of Prof. Charles Soludo's thought-provoking piece, Can Nigeria Be the China of Africa?, and an in-depth discussion on the Nigeria National Policy on Education. Thirteen staff members presented innovative teaching methodologies and learning strategies, enriching our collective knowledge and reinforcing our commitment to educational excellence.
Looking Ahead with Gratitude
As we reflect on these accomplishments, we are profoundly grateful for your support, which has been the cornerstone of our success. Your generosity has empowered us to provide quality education and holistic development opportunities to children who need it most. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for these young minds, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to transform their communities.
We look forward to your continued partnership and are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. Thank you for being an integral part of the OSNON Academy family.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Chude and Ego Foundation/OSNON Academy Team
