Project Report

SAMPARC Children’s Home, Bhaje started in year 1990, is working for care of orphan, poor, needy and disadvantaged girl children. The Children’s Home is a Licensed Children’s Home under the Department of Women & Child Welfare, Government of Maharashtra for the care of orphan and disadvantaged children.

 

At present 134 girl children live in a homely atmosphere of  care and support of Social Workers, Counsellor, House Mothers, Tutors and sports instructor who work with the children under guidance of Mrs. Ratna Banerjee, Trustee and Coordinator of the Project. 

 

All the children are healthy, happy and are attending school regularly. During this period children have received results of first semester exam and all have performed well and are now working hard for their Annual Exams. Children receive tutoring in the Children’s Home after attending school in all subjects and special attention is provided to children who are weak in studies.On 31st January 2019, Science exhibition was conducted in Children’s Home & children presented various models.Regular training programs, workshops and sessions on various topics are arranged for the children in the Children’s Homes along with exposure visits for overall development of the children. Children are encouraged to read books in Library, 1 hour daily is allocated for library time and on Sunday library is open full day.Children also read newspaper daily  to update themselves regarding day to day happenings and to enhance their General Knowledge.

  

Children have enough and tasty food prepared in clean kitchen and the same is monitored regularly by Social Worker. Children receive balanced food which includes right proportion of pulses, grains, vegetables, diary, sprouts, leafy vegetables as their daily intake. Children have Milk everyday with Bournvita and have fruits daily. Every Sunday children have special breakfast & meals and also during festivals sweet dish and special Menu is prepared as per the choice of the children. Children have meals along with the house mother and home incharge to ensure personal attention when children are having meals. The children’s Home is equipped with Water purifier and children are provided with clean drinking water. Regular maintenance of Purifier and water testing is done and it is ensured that children have clean drinking water. The kitchen & dining area is sanitized and is always clean and the store room is also kept clean.

 

Overall health of all the children is good and to ensure well-being of the children health of each child – HB level, weight, height, overall health checkup, is regularly monitored. Weight and Height of each child is measured on 30th of every month. Quarterly Health checkup & Hemoglobin test of all children was conducted on 20th December 2018. ENT, Eye checkup & Dental checkup which is conducted once in a year was conducted in the month of December 2018. Also hygiene aspect – to take bath daily, to brush teeth twice a day, to wear neat clothes, to cut nails every Sunday & to wash hands before having meals is ensured by housemothers.

All children do yoga regularly and also play indoor & outdoor games during their free time. Children enjoy riding bicycle and also spend free time in pursuing their hobbies like, drawing & painting.

From 27th to 29th Dec 2018, Children participated in competitions organized by District Women & Child Welfare Office, Pune and 25 children won 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes in various competitions like Kabbadi, Kho-Kho, Relay, Drawing, Essay writing & 11 children participated in group dance competition & bagged 1st Prize.

Also children participated in Annual Sports competition held in School and 54 children won  1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes in various competitions like Kho- Kho, Dodge ball Hopping, Skipping, Throw ball, Kabaddi, Surynamaskar, Shot-put, 4* 100 Relay, 100mt & 200 mt. Running race & Disc Throw. All the winners of the competitions were felicitated during Annual Day in the School.

 

All Cultural & National festivals are celebrated in the Children’s Home and all children & staff participate in the same and also actively make arrangements of the same. During this period Christmas  was celebrated in Children’s Home and special food was prepared for the children. The Children’s Home was decorated for the occasion, huts were made and children dressed as Santa Claus enjoyed Christmas by cutting cake and later children danced and enjoyed.  New Year Celebrations were held in the Children’s Home.

 

All the children are progressing well and are looking forward towards a bright future.
