SAMPARC Balgram is a Brain-child of Mr. Amitkumar Banerjee – started with the aim to bring up Orphan and Needy Children in a Homely Environment providing them all the required amenities to make them sustainable in the main-stream society with self-esteem.

Since the beginning in 1990, SAMPARC Balgram – Bhaje has experienced many developments to provide the Children the best possible amenities for their proper Development & Rehabilitation.Mrs. Ratna Banerjee, Trustee – SAMPARC and Coordinator of the Project along with Project In-charge, Counsellor, House Mother and other supporting Staff is working for the Children securing their proper Education and Good Health.

At present, total 160 Destitute Girls are residing at SAMPARC Balgram – Bhaje. Along with proper Accommodation – Shelter and Education, the prime aspect of the Rehabilitation of such children is to provide them sufficient “Nutritious Food”.Most of the Children come from very poor background having problem of Mal-nutrition. We, at SAMPARC Balgram, follow certain diet chart prepared by expert Dietitian.

In the Bal-Panchayet (Children’s Committee) in the Balgram – there is Food Committee among the Children – responsible to decide the daily Menu as per the recommendation of the Dietitian.The daily food contains the right proportion of Pulses, Grains, Vegetables, Sprouts, Leafy vegetables, Fruits and Milk.The regular diet of each child consists of 200gm Wheat, 150gm Rice, 40gm Pulses, 50 gm Sprouts, 200 gm Vegetables, 200gm Chicken (every Sunday) 2 Eggs (every Friday) along with 200ml Milk every day in the evening along with seasonal fruit like Apple, Banana, Orange, Papaya, Watermelon etc.Children get Special Breakfast every Sunday like Idli Sambhar, Pav Bhaji, Misal Pav, Sabu-dana Khichdi etc.

Proper cleanliness of the Kitchen, Dining Hall and Store-Room are maintained by the concerned Staff in the Kitchen and Project In-charge himself tests Food every day.Safe Drinking Water is ensured by the Water Purifier which also gets regular servicing to provide the Children Clean & Safe Drinking Water.During this period, overall health of the Children is good except some minor problem of cough and cold due to rainy season. They have got proper treatment for that.Few Teen-age Girls – in good health but having little low HB Count. They are getting special Diet to resolve the issue. Special Food Supplement is suggested by the Doctor.

Educational Progress of the Children is up to the mark. In this Year, from SAMPARC Balgram - Bhaje 22 Children appeared in 10th Std final Board (SSC) Examination and 18 girls have passed and 4 of them will have to reappear in the same. Now they are pursuing Higher Education.11 Children appeared in 12th Std final Board Examination and 9 girls of them have passed and 2 girls will reappear.

There is Special Education Support (Tuition Classes) for the Girls which includes Computer Education, educational coaching for quality education,  Extra-curricular Activities (Dance, Music – Singing, Drawing & Craft-work etc.)There is also Schedule of Sport & Games Activity of the Children to keep them Physically as well as Mentally Healthy for Good Educational Performance. They also gets proper Nutrition for the same. They participated School Level, Block Level and District Level Competitions and bagged many prizes.

The Children of SAMPARC Balgram are being encouraged for Cultural Activities also. Group of Girls regularly attend Dance, Singing, Drama Classes as per their interest and capability.Counselling Support is there to resolve the behavioural issues of the Children.During summer vacation, Children have enjoyed Picnic, Excursion, Workshop for Craft Work and various sessions of Confidence Building, Personality Development and Career Guidance.

Social Action for Manpower Creation - SAMPARC was started in 1990 with the aim to provide proper Education & Care to the poor orphan underprivileged Children, Children of socially victim women, convicted people and other disadvantaged needy children to prepare them sustainable in the main-stream society with Dignity.

SAMPARC children’s Home, Bhaje, situated at the footsteps of famous Bhaje Caves, near Lonavla which is home for 137 orphans, poor and needy Girl Children.

SAMPARC started its activities from this centre and is working since last 27 Years for the care, upbringing, education and rehabilitation of these children and every year SAMPARC has successfully helped the children achieve their dreams by providing them right environment, care, guidance, nutritional support, family atmosphere, training in sports and extra-curricular activities.

The Children’s Home is working under the guidance of Mrs. Ratna Banerjee, Trustee and Coordinator of the Project along with Project In-charge Mr. Subash Bongarde, Counsellor, Social Worker, Housemothers, Tutors, Sports Instructor who works passionately for the children. 

The main Objective of Child-care is to provide them Nutritious Food to overcome Health related issues, mal-nutrition which they got due to poverty and lack of care before they came in SAMPARC.

Children are served balanced diet which includes right proportion of Pulses, Grains, Vegetables, Sprouts, Leafy vegetables, Fruits and Milk as their daily intake.

The Menu prepared is as per the recommendation of the Doctor. The regular diet of each child consists of 200gm Wheat, 150gm Rice, 40gm Pulses, 50 gm Sprouts, 200 gm Vegetables, 200gm Chicken (every Sunday) 2 Eggs (every Friday) along with 200ml Milk every day in the evening along with seasonal fruit like apple, banana, orange, Papaya, Watermelon etc.

Also, children have special breakfast every Sunday like Misal Pav, Idli Sambhar, Pav Bhaji etc. Food Committee of the children (Bal-Panchayet) plays an important role to select Menu.

Food is prepared by the Kitchen staff in the clean kitchen and the quality of food is tested every day by the Project In-charge.

Also, children are served food in a clean environment in the dining hall by the housemothers. Also, housemothers give attention whether the children especially younger ones are having their meals properly. The kitchen & dining area and the storeroom are sanitized and are always is also kept clean.

The children’s Home is equipped with Water purifier and children are provided with clean and safe drinking water.

The overall health of the children is good. A part-time doctor takes care of the general health aspects of the children.

Weight and Height of each child are measured every month and documented.

Apart from Proper Nutrition & Good Health, the emphasis is given on Education & Skill Development of the Children.

They regularly attend school. Special Tuition is provided for better learning. Children who are slow-learners are getting special attention. They are provided Library with books as per the interest of the Children.

The Children are also learning basic level Computer to be Computer literate.

There are Special Education Classes for Spoken English, General Knowledge, Reasoning and Maths.

Sports and Yoga instructors are there to encourage the Children towards Sports & Games to make them fit and active.

Children who are interested – attend classes for Singing, Dancing and Drawing.

Children also attend Workshop for Craft Work and various sessions of Confidence Building, Personality Development and Career Guidance.

During Vacation, all the Children enjoy Picnic, Excursion and Exposure visit.

All the activities have become possible with the support of our Sponsors, Donors and all other like-minded People.

As per present market rate, every day we spend Rs.50/- per Child to provide them Nutritious Food. We are conducting Drive to reach to all the Kind-hearted people who believe in the Cause and can extend their Helping Hand.

SAMPARC Children’s Home has children of the age group 5 to18 years. Mostly the children come from very difficult situations/backgrounds, being neglected, abandoned and unwanted. At SAMPARC they receive love, care, and affection of family environment, education, Counseling support and confidence to become responsible citizens and contribute to the development of the Nation.

Every aspect of child care is meticulously planned and taken care by the qualified staff and counselors working with children right from nutrition, hygiene, quality education, behavioral improvement, proper environment, comfort, regular health checkup along with confidence building measures, vision development and proper guidance for future. Regular training programs, workshops and sessions on various topics are arranged for the children in the Children’s Home along with exposure visits for overall development of the children.

After attending school children receive tutoring in the children’s home and receive special education support in Spoken English, General Knowledge, Reasoning, Math’s, Computers along with training in Sports. SAMPARC is able to provide all these facilities to the children with the support of individual sponsors and donors. Mrs. Ratna Banerjee, Founder Trustee also plays a very important role for care, guidance, psychological well -being of the children and coordinates with the staff in the best interest of the children.
