In the picture you can see my school. I am Sindhya, just seven-years old and enrolled in class two. I am an orphan girl and been enrolled in the government school in my village. There is one newly appointed teacher who use to come from Sindhri, more than 17 kilometers away from my village. The teacher is most regular since his joining but unfortunately after rain he could not come to school as Katcha Road been under water and there is no other mean to travel and reach in the village. In acute emergency or search of food, the village men are using tubes (as a boat) to reach Hingorno Town which takes more than an hour. Due to lack of shelter as the houses have been damaged and collapsed along non-availability of teacher, a community family has been in school building to reside till Katcha Road and Teachers becomes able to travel.
Flood 2022 has badly affected overall life and socioeconomic conditions of people living villages in particular. And the schools and education has been adversely affected. Being an orphan girl and the flood caused such devastation that my mother is not in a position to enroll me at another school. Therefore, I will ask and insist philanthropists and humanitarian actors, please do come forward and work around educational challenges in particular rehabilitation of schools’ infrastructures, missing facilities, provision of school kits and accessories as girls may continue their schooling after flood in a smooth way.
It’s pleasure for me to know that ARTS Foundation’s team has visited our flood affected village, held a meeting with community and planning to work on re-habilitation of school, provision of missing facilities as occurred due to flooding and delivery of school kits to orphan girls.
I hope I will get school kit to continue my education after rehabilitation of the school. Thank you in advance, Philanthropists, ARTS Foundation and GlobalGiving.
