The after-effects of the COVID pandemic, civil unrest and looting and then disastrous flooding in KwaZulu-Natal, left many families of our learners destitute. While disability already affects the poor disproportionally, the added burden of disasters and a serious economic slump has resulted in many distressed families. Through this project we seek to alleviate the financial burden of payment of school and residence fees so that our learners are still able to access excellent education at Fulton
There are currently 114 learners at Fulton. Providing nutritious, flavoursome meals and homely comfort in a school hostel as well as future-focused, empowering education to Deaf learners, is an expensive undertaking which is supplemented only in part by the State. Through this project we aim to raise funds to cover the school and hostel fees of at least 50 learners, thereby alleviating the financial distress of the families and ensuring world-class education can continue being offered.
The Sponsor-a-child programme subsidises the school and hostel fees of learners who are known to come from financially distressed families. In this way, the school is able to continue to resource innovative and novel interventions in the classroom, and comfortable residential facilities, while providing relief to families of our learners.
This project will cover the education costs and residence of at least 50 learners for the period of 1 year. Fulton is proud of the many past pupils who have gone on to achieve well in various fields, despite coming from humble beginnings. It is our vision that every learner at our school should leave us one day with the self-belief and know-how to succeed in life. Your contribution will help us achieve this vision.
