This first quarter of 2026 marked a historic milestone for Misión Huascarán: for the first time, our complementary education program expanded to the high school level, reaching 826 students across 9 primary and 5 secondary rural schools in the Peruvian Andes. To make this possible, we set up 5 new interactive classrooms, hired 3 communication teachers who speak Quechua, the students' native language, and delivered 826 backpacks filled with school supplies thanks to the support of Tai Loy. In our playful libraries, children and teenagers gain access to cutting-edge educational technology and internet to strengthen their reading comprehension and develop critical thinking — tools the public system still cannot provide in these remote highland areas. Following our initial assessments in April, every student now has a personalized learning plan tailored to their individual needs. Behind every number is a child who once struggled to read a sentence and is now discovering the joy of a book. Thanks to donors like you, we are building the bridge between the education these children receive and the education they deserve.
