Future Nurses Need a Path to Nursing School

By Joy Ojochogwu Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for your generosity and for believing in the dreams of young girls who want to become nurses. Your support sends a powerful message that their ambitions matter and that their circumstances should not determine their future.

Recently, we reviewed messages and inquiries received from girls living in slums and underserved communities who aspire to enter nursing school. Their stories are different, but they share one thing in common: a strong desire to serve others through healthcare. Many have personally witnessed the effects of nurse shortages in their communities and want to be part of the solution.

At this stage, however, the donations received are still not enough to begin the project. Additional support is needed before we can start covering examination fees, admission costs, tuition, uniforms, books, and other educational requirements for the selected beneficiaries.

For many of these girls, the obstacle is not lack of ability or determination. The challenge is simply affordability. Costs associated with nursing school remain beyond the reach of their families, leaving promising students at risk of abandoning their career goals before they even begin.

Through this project, we hope to help 15 girls take their first steps into nursing education. By removing some of the financial barriers that stand in their way, they can begin training for a profession that is urgently needed in many communities across Nigeria.

We are grateful for every donation received so far and encouraged by the support shown toward these aspiring nurses. As more assistance comes in, we will be able to move closer to selecting beneficiaries and beginning implementation.

Thank you for standing with young women whose dreams have the potential to improve healthcare in places where it is needed most.

Warm regards,

Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
