We are excited to share with you that as a result of our fundraising events over the last twelve months, we have raised 69 % of the money needed to close the deal on the land that will house the SPL Rescue Center. We expect to raise the remaining funds during the next six months. To achive this goal we have planned an exciting calendar of events:
April 3 / 7 Little by Little 5 days to fundraise
April 15th 2023 Farm to Table Brunch in San Javier fundraiser
Pints X Paws Happy Hour every Thursday at El Zopilote Brewing Company Loreto
Saturday Markets at the Plaza sale of SPL Tshirts and cups
Burgers and Blues Party for a Cause
July Bonus Day 14.9 hours of fundraise
During this year we have supported sterilization clinics every month, rescued and found forever homes for 87 dogs, with 28 more in the early stages of health checks, and necessary veterinary treatment before we can move on to finding them good homes.
We would like to share with you a few of their stories.
Kitchi was abandoned on the outskirts of town. Quite sick and having been abused, we took her in and against all odds, and despite losing an eye, after months of medical treatment and chemotherapy, we found her a loving home here in Loreto and now she spends her mornings takings much deserved naps and sunbathing by a pool.
Loui was found terribly skinny, covered in ticks and had been hit by a car. We brought him home, nursed him back to health and he is now living his best life in Eugene Oregon.
Canela was owned by a homeless person with mental health issues when we rescued her at the height of the hot Loreto Summer. She was heavily pregnant, thirsty and tired of walking the hot streets for food. After a few failed attempts to talk to the owner to allow us to help her, we succeeded and finally gained his trust. He left her with us and she gave birth to 13 pups all of which were adopted by local families. Canela now lives in Portland as a member of a loving family.
We deeply appreciate your support to stray dogs one by one... until there are Non.
