Fourth Quarter Report

We would like to express our sincere apologies for delaying this report, it hasn’t been easy here in Ethiopia. Apart from the unprecedented COVID-19 which hit the globe at the beginning of this period, there have been civil unrests and conflicts in most parts of Ethiopia and as a response the Federal Government shut down the internet connection throughout the country for 5 weeks and we could not submit this report any earlier. We highly regret and apologize for any inconveniences caused to GlobalGiving Team and to our donors.

We are very proud to report that your donors have made significant impacts to our project and welfare of many individuals have been improved as a result and we say a big THANK YOU for all the donors who have donated to our project. Kindly keep donating to this project on a monthly basis to sustain the results we have achieved given that the donations have run out.

In our project, we are cultivating micro-algae spirulina as food supplement to fight malnutrition in Ethiopia. With your donations the project managed to produce Spirulina in dry powder form which we are now distributing freely to those in dire need of malnutrition intervention. With the closure of schools due to COVID-19, we could not continue with our distribution to school children which we deeply feel obligated and pray they are doing well at their homes. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic the Ethiopian Federal Government with the support of Development Actors collected the homeless families and street children and institutionalized them in various institutions to curb the spread of the virus. The elderly in Addis Ababa City were put in Macedonia Home for the Elderly and are now receiving our Spirulina products in dry powdered form.  We are currently providing 3 grams of Spirulina powder daily to 60 elderly people in the institution, most of them malnourished and HIV positive. Significant results are being registered every week. We are doing our best to continue with the production even though the funds have run out and hope that we will get new donations soon to sustain production process. We pray that you will join us in raising for more funds to continue helping the needy.

In the next quarter, we will continue doing the production and distribution to the needy people in Ethiopia as we continue raising funds towards our goal of buying a spirulina drying machine costing USD10,000. We hope to attain our goal in the near future.
