Decades earlier there was no proper education facility available for mentally and physically disabled children in the society. Now Government has initiated several steps for giving proper education facility to uplift the disabled children in the society. Bharathi Seva Mandali Trust Karkala has started the special school in Karkala Taluk of Udupi District in the year 2004 and named it as “Chethana Special School”, with the sole intension of upliftment of special children to the main stream of society. The School initially started with 16 mentally and physically challenged children with the whole hearted support and accommodation provided by the management of Sri. Vekataramana Temple Karkala in the premises of S.V.T Primary School. The management of the school is very much grateful for their kind gesture.
Since 2011 our special school is having its own building built at cost of Rs. 3 Crores in half an acre of land near Sri.Krishna Kshethra, Anekere, Karkala donated by Borkatte Hegde family.
