What a busy year it has been! The Trailblazers Program at the RJCC continues to meet two very important needs for after school families. For working parents, it is the ability to send their children to a supportive and supported after school environment where complex individual needs are met. Our families also count on the program to meet the socail needs of their children - once again making sure to find the "right fit".
One part of that fit is Homework Help...a valuable component of the Trailblazers After School Program. After a long school day, it is often hard to motivate any student to complete their homework assignments, particularly if parents work and the family does not get home until late in the evening. Parents and kids get frustrated with the daily struggle and often the battles that occur each night with the long "to do" list when everyone gets home. On some occasions, students may have homework as well as additional therapeutic activites that need to be completed. It's nice to know that the staff as well as the program itself, individually addresses each of these needs.
"Thank you, thank you, our son comes home more relaxed now... he's happy... his work is done... he enjoys his teachers help and we can relax after a long day".
Each day, certified special education teachers as well as specially trained staff, are there to help with individual instruction and homework help and to assist with each child's learning styles and needs. Kids come home more relaxed, homework is complete and the night is free for the family to relax.
