Summer is a busy time for the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon. Cats are having kittens, and their caregivers are realizing that they need to get the cats and kittens spayed/neutered before more kittens are born.
At one July clinic we checked in 114 cats for spay/neuter services! This was our largest clinic at our new building in SW Portland. Because caregivers bringing feral and stray cats need to trap them first we can never know exactly how many cats will show up for a clinic. We prepare and schedule volunteers and staff so that we can always provide the cats the best care. The incredible team we had assembled for this particular clinic was able to finish surgery in six hours!
Frisky was one of the 114 patients at that clinic. Renee's husband, Ellery, is a big animal lover and couldn't resist putting food out for Frisky. Noticing the many cats in the area that were reproducing, Renee decided to schedule an appointment for Frisky to be spayed. She is now ready to live a healthier life without contributing to the growing number of kittens born in the streets.
