Mama Socks Takes Charge

By Devon Jahn | Development Manager

Mama Socks
Mama Socks

Before purchasing a home in Amboy, WA, Nancy was told that there were some kitties that had taken to the barn on the property and were being fed by the previous owner. To Nancy, these cats were a bonus. Before marrying a cat-allergic husband, she had shared homes with many cats.

When Nancy went to her new home she was immediately greeted by Mama Socks.

Mama Socks guided Nancy to the barn where she and her kittens stayed, and then around to where they were used to being fed. Nancy knew right away that Mama Socks was telling her that it was her job to feed them now, and so she did!

After noticing some other kitties on the property Nancy knew she needed to get them spayed/neutered. She told us, "my heart goes out to these cats, and I want to help them."

Nancy lives nearly 2 hours from FCCO's clinic, but because the services are donation-based she didn't need to worry about being able to afford the cost to spay/neuter so many cats. She brought Mama Socks and her seven colony-mates to be spayed/neutered, and the cats were also vaccinated and treated for parasites. Now they are again being fed daily, are healthy, and no longer breeding.

FCCO's services are available to help the cats and the caregivers looking out for them because of donors like you. Thank you.
