Chris, an early SPARC ~ Sterling participant, recently returned to our community.
Non-speaking and deeply observant, he communicates through trust, shared experience, and connection.
Since returning, he has shown a clear desire for friendship.
Chris and Connor have naturally gravitated toward one another.
Both struggle with relationships — yet share common interests and strengths.
Staff and DSPs are intentionally nurturing this bond through simple, meaningful moments:

We are developing an individualized friendship plan for Chris and Connor — ensuring their connection grows into a lasting, supportive relationship within an inclusive community.
Chris and Conner were both rejected from other day programs. Their p arents were told that noone would be able to accommodate their needs. Chris due to PICA and Conner due to behavior But SPARC's staff are credentialed professionals. They had training and expertise in PICA management. They have years of experience in implementing strategies to re-direct to acceptable behavior.
