Greetings! I did submit and report and received a notice that it was received. However, here is another report in the event it was lost in cyberspace.
SPARC is a place where young adults who are not able to work and require 1:1 support for all activities come together with friends and live their best life!
Recently we had a visiting poet conduct a workshop and all of our SPARC friends wrote beautiful poetry! It was so touching that Katherine Gotthardt, our poet, wrote an article that was published sharing that we must always look beyond what we think we see, for all people have great strengths underneath the surface.
In a partnership with Fairfax County's Alden Theatre, a visiting artist brought a sensory art project to SPARC. We took sheets of fairy grass and decorated them with flowers to write a letter and then added elements such as wet rubber duckies, plastic bugs and peeps!
As we approach Halloween and Thanksgiving all of the clubs have been busy creating beautiful decorations.
Our social group visited the Museum of the Word in Washington, D.C.
We are learning about the health benefits of incorporating microgreens into our diet and growing them in club! Our SPARC friends have had fun tasting their produce in a variety of recipes such as added to smoothies, salads, and dips!
Your support makes all of these activities worthwhile! Please support our scholarship participants. The fees are low - a young adult may attend a year of SPARC five days a week for only $9,000! This is a huge cost savings to the community. And, when a loved one is at SPARC, their (often single) parent is able to work.
