SPARC participants live their best life!

For sixteen years, SPARC participants have discovered that aging out of school does not mean that they have to "fall off the cliff" as most adults with prodound disabiities do.

When they discover SPARC, they find a community that enables them to self-direct their day and enjoy true community engagement with peers and supportive staff.

We are not a medicaid provider.  Why is that important?  Because medicaid providers are required to operate as ratio-based enlltities.  That means that each caregiver who is responsbile for their clients' day has a minimum of four clients to work with. Look at our photos.  Can you imagine how difficult it would be to provide an engaging day for four or more of our participants?  It is virtually impossible. All you can do is keep them clean and fed.  But every person wants more in their day.

We are proud of our model and believe it shoudl exist in every community center across the country.  Adults with profound disabilities deserve to live the same life you and I enjoy.  But until our society as a whole decides that adults should be supported, young adults with profound disabilities -- those who are unable to work in supported programs -- are resigned to sitting in a room, parked in front of a tv or radio all day... or worse.

SPARC offers a day filled with laughter, love and learning.  However, because we rely on individual and business donations (there are no grants for our population) we must raise $11,000 per month.  Month after month; year after year.

Any amount will help.  If you are able, please consider becoing a monthly donor to sustain our programs.

Please look at our pictures and see the joy on our participants faces.  No human deserves to live in isolation.  Every person needs engagement.  You can be the one that provides the vital funds that ensures their day is not only safe; it is filled with joy.
