Specialty Classes Are Only Possible Because of You

By Debi Alexander | Executive Director

As we move into 2022, Specially Adapted Resource Clubs (SPARC) is expanding!  High school students are preparing to leave the school system where they have enjoyed robust supports and engaging activities mandated by law through their Individualized Educatioin Plan (IEP).

However, their educational, social-emotional and physical education requirements do not stop just because they have aged out of the system.

While families of their peers who do not require support are planning graudation parties, purchasing a new car, shopping for college, our families are dreading the day after graduation when their child "falls off the cliff."

Those supports and enrichments vanish UNLESS caring supporters like you ensure programs like SPARC have the funds necessary to provide full, enriching days!

Your donation goes a long way:

$20 provides the ingredients for two cooking classes

$50 provides tickets for a social club field trip

$90 provides a therapeutic music class

$195 provides a scholarship for one month of social club

$300 provides a scholarship for one month of virtual club

$600 provides a scholarship for one month of in person club four days a week

$750 provides a scholarship for one month of in person club

$1000 underwrites the gap between fees charged and the actual cost (we have to raise $11,000 per month to close the gap!)

The first two months of club each participant worked with our program team to set goals for the year.  Participants learned about SMART goals and established their goal for the year and strategies to reach them.

Social Group is creating a booklet to help other young adults learn what they need to know to transition from their parents home to another form of housing.  Last week we discussed budgeting for the move!

One of our participants is getting ready to move in August.  During a club meeting someone asked if he was planning to purchase a shirt to root on his favorite football team.  He wisely resonded that now that he was moving he had to save his money for his household budget.  This young adult is 40 and getting ready to achieve a milestone we all remember -- his own apartment.  Through a myriad of programs and case management, he is moving into a building that provides supported housing for people with profound special needs.   He is able to take this next step thanks in large part to the skills and support he has received at SPARC.

YOUR support is enabling youong adults with profouond disabilities to live the life we all wish to live.
