MID-TERM REPORT : January - June 2026

By Bertine OUEDRAOGO | Project Team member for advocacy and communication

MID-TERM REPORT: 105 GBV SURVIVORS SUPPORTED, 2,995 PEOPLE REACHED

PROJECT: Help Displaced Women and Girls in Burkina Faso (#75445)

1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Dear donors, this report presents the tangible impact of your generous support. Thanks to you, 105 survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) have received comprehensive care, and nearly 3,000 people have been sensitized on the rights of displaced women and children in Burkina Faso. Your trust enables us to deliver a concrete humanitarian response: psychosocial support, food assistance, and access to essential health services.

 2. CONTEXT AND PROJECT OVERVIEW

Dear donors, you have chosen to support a life-saving emergency project for displaced women and children in Burkina Faso. These communities, fleeing insecurity and recurring climate crises, endure violence and lack access to healthcare, water, and food.

Your generosity directly funds:

Life-saving aid: water, food, and healthcare.

Psychological support: counseling and care for GBV survivors.

Local capacity building: training communities to strengthen protection mechanisms.

 3. WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED TOGETHER (JANUARY – JUNE 2026)

Thanks to you, we have carried out concrete actions that are changing lives.

3.1. Protect and Heal: Caring for Survivors

Your support has enabled holistic care for 105 GBV survivors. Beyond the numbers, these are women and girls who have found a listening ear and a path toward healing.

87 cases supported under the WELTAARE GURE project.

18 cases supported under the "Se Défendre" project.

What your donations made possible:

Counseling and psychological support sessions.

Referrals to medical and legal services.

Social reintegration support.

"He controlled my calls, my messages, and even my social life. I had become a prisoner of my husband. (...) I eventually left him because I was living in isolation and depression."

– A survivor of psychological violence, Dédougou.

3.2. Raise Awareness to Prevent Violence

Your contribution has helped raise awareness among 2,995 people on gender-based violence (GBV) and Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA). We reached internally displaced persons and host communities, including people living with disabilities.

3.3. Strengthen Communities for Lasting Impact

We trained community volunteers and facilitated safe spaces for women and children.

Safe Spaces for Women and Girls (ESFF): 675 women and girls participated in learning activities (soap-making, sewing) and discussions on their rights.

Child-Friendly Spaces (EAE): 4,781 children benefited from safe environments to play, learn, and receive emotional support.

 4. THE STORY BEHIND THE NUMBERS: THE POWER OF YOUR SUPPORT

Every donation has a face. Behind the 105 survivors is Fatimata (name changed), a widow and mother of six, displaced and denied access to resources. Thanks to your support, she was heard and referred to a local association to learn a trade and provide for her family. You are not just supporting a cause—you are transforming the lives of women like Fatimata.

 5. CHALLENGES AND OUR COMMITMENT

The context remains challenging (insecurity, limited access), but we remain committed to carrying out our mission with transparency and rigor, thanks to your trust.

 6. LOOKING AHEAD: SECOND SEMESTER 2026

With your continued support, we will:

Distribute dignity kits to survivors.

Complete ongoing training programs (Girl Shine, SAFE, Brighter Future).

Continue advocacy efforts for stronger protection of women and girls.

Thank you for being part of this change. Your support is essential.
