SOS Community Renaissance DRC

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support of the SOS Community Renaissance DRC project. Your contribution, though modest so far, is making a real difference in our community.

1) SUMMARY OF THE PERIOD (APRIL TO JUNE 2026)

From April to June 2026 , the SOS Renaissance project of the DRC Community (no. 70607) continued its community support activities in an extremely worrying humanitarian and health context. In the DRC, communities are suffering greatly, particularly due to conflict and a very critical humanitarian situation . At the same time, the emergence/presence of the Ebola virus in the East reinforces the urgency of prevention, accurate information, and the protection of the population.

During this period, the project also faced financial difficulties and a lack of donations , which limited some of its implementation capabilities. Despite this, the team maintained essential activities, focused on:

1. training of community trainers in protection against epidemics (focus on Ebola );
2. preparing communities for the school supply collection campaign for vulnerable/impoverished and out-of-school children.

2) PROGRESS OF ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT

A) Training of community trainers on protection against epidemics (Ebola)

1)    Four training sessions/meetings were organised on epidemic prevention, with a particular focus on Ebola .

2)    50 community trainers were trained so that they could then relay the messages and support community adherence to health protection measures.

B) MOBILIZATION MEETINGS FOR THE SCHOOL CAMPAIGN

As the start of the school year approached, the project held a total of 4 meetings to mobilize and strengthen volunteer involvement. The objective was:

1)    to encourage volunteers to join and actively participate in the campaign;

2)    to train volunteers on their roles in collecting school supplies ;

3)    to organize the preparation and delivery of materials to the targeted areas.

The campaign primarily targets the city of Kinshasa for collection. The collected materials will then be transported to the following destinations :

a)    Central Kasai

b)    Uvira

3) RESULTS OBTAINED DURING THE PERIOD

a)    The 50 trained community trainers now have practical knowledge and approaches for protection against epidemics , with an emphasis on Ebola , thus contributing to strengthening community resilience.

b)    The volunteers mobilized through 4 meetings are ready to participate in the collection campaign and to support the transport of materials.

c)     The school campaign is better prepared, with a clear strategy: collection in Kinshasa and distribution/transportation to Kasai Central and Uvira to support vulnerable/impoverished and out-of-school children .

5) STATUS OF DONATIONS / FUNDING

From April to June 2026 , the project did not receive any new donations . This situation limited some opportunities for expanding activities and required prioritizing actions feasible with available resources. Despite this, the planned activities (training and preparation for the school campaign) were carried out.

6) CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED

a)    Instability of the humanitarian context due to conflicts and increased household insecurity.

b)    Increased health risk with the threat associated with Ebola in the East, requiring strong prevention messages and practices.

c)     Financial constraints due to the lack of new donations, limiting certain expenses and the expansion of the initial plan.

7) PLANNED ACTIONS (FUTURE PERIOD)

a)    Continue the operational implementation of the school supply collection campaign (organization, sorting/packaging and coordination of volunteers).

b)    Finalize the delivery of materials to Kasai Central and Uvira .

c)     Continue monitoring awareness-raising activities through community trainers in order to maintain a constant level of prevention.

8) CONCLUSION

During April to June 2026 , despite the absence of new donations and in a very critical humanitarian and health context, SOS Renaissance of the DRC Community (no. 70607) made concrete progress:

a)    4 training sessions on epidemic prevention (focus on Ebola ) which enabled the training of 50 community trainers ,

b)    4 volunteer mobilization meetings to prepare the school campaign, with collection centered on Kinshasa and transport to Kasai Central and Uvira to support vulnerable/impoverished and out-of-school children .
