Our Campaign Is Now Fully Funded

By Daniel Marungu | Project Leader

Yes we've done it! Every child at Abundance School will have a new school bag for the New Year!

Thanks to our very generous donors on GlobalGiving .

We have raised 909 UK pounds (1132 US dollars) towards our Soma Soma campaign to buy every child a school bag for the New Year. Thank you everyone who contributed. Yes enough money to buy half the school bags we need.

A fantastic result!  So how to raise the rest??

We couldn't just give bags to half the children, could we?

I am astounded and grateful  by the way God has worked out His plans. It is said that a man can throw up a coin but how it lands is God's business. Can you believe that this is real?

I took Teacher Fred  with me to visit a  Nairobi politician, campaigning in our  forthcoming Kenyan election.  We arrived early at his office,  using our breathing to keep calm,  while he first talked at length about his political ambitions. Eventually he came back to our business and there my heart beat accelerated.    He asked us how much we had raised already and what we were yet to raise.  I had our figures ready on papers together with official quotations from suppliers.

To cut a long story short,

He related well to the plight of disadvantaged children and promised to do more for them whenever it is possible.Money raised through Global Giving will buy bags for eighty  pupils while he will provide all the accessories i.e a fountain pen, 5  exercise books, a drawing book, two erasers, a bottle of ink,5 pencils, a sharpener, a 30 cm ruler  and a packet of crayon for every  child of 83 children.

Thank God, and quoting our European Patron Andria Falk (andriafalk@blueyonder.co.uk), now  'every child will  smile'  We are set to give the gifts on Monday next week .

We look foward to shariring with you pictures ,stories and vedioclips soon from the school.

Asante sana!!  We are grateful!
