Since the past year, Foundation University has ventured into solar energy in order to cut down on the monthly electric bills and to contribute, as well, to the conservation of the environment. The use of solar energy, a very reliable renewable source, lessens the emission of carbon footprint.
From the north campus which is home to the basic education unit of the University, the installation of solar panels is now being done in the main campus. Solar panels now have occupied most roofs of the buildings inside the main campus.
Out of the solar panels installed in the main campus buildings, the assigned department has activated four inverters with 20 kilowatt capacity.
At present, there is an ongoing crafting of a layout for the cables to be installed in the west side of the main campus which will be used for solar panels.
In 2015, Foundation University was named the “Most Sustainable and Eco-Friendly School” in the whole country for the tertiary schools category.
