In 2016, the university took a bold step toward sustainability, it invested in solar technology to reduce its reliance on conventional energy sources. Almost a decade later, that decision continues to deliver meaningful results to the campus, the students and our planet.
Energy savings go further as the existing solar panel system reduces the university's electricity costs. These savings are reinvested into scholarships which is what the university is all about. Its goal has always been to educate the financially challenged but intellectually gifted. A portion also goes to campus improvements that is much needed most especially that the population continually grow each academic year. Research programs can move forward on mitigating climate change and environmental issues.
By generating its own clean energy, it has significantly lowered its carbon footprint. Every ray of sunlight captured by the panels contribute to cleaner air, healthier environment and a more sustainable future for the entire community. The university continues to inspire the community as it remains proud of its solar power in action
The university is still 50% solar powered as it will need more finances to cover the entire campus. Its vision is not only to power the campus but to inspire a broader movement toward clean, sustainable energy in the entire province.
The sun shines on the campus everyday. The light it gives not only powers buildings but also powers the future of the entire community.
