SolarCity: High Powered Solar Panels in Dumaguete

Foundation University commitment towards promoting a greener environment has launched the solar power project years back. As it continously walks the talk, FU has been benefiting from the solar power project throughout the North and Main Campus and in the demonstration farms outside the city.

Undeniably, this initiative made Foundation University as first solar powered academic institution in the whole region of Visayas with its on grid with zero battery system.The project’s primary objective is to save energy and cost. The first installation started mid-year of 2014 which covered 30% of energy needs in North Campus. The years that followed marked the expansion at the Main Campus then to the demonstration farms.

The benefit caused to the University is not only in the monetary aspect but it has edified the identity of FU as a genuine advocate for the environment through the promotion of a greener and cleaner energy from a renewable source - the sun. With this, the University also has taken extra care of the equipment in order to lengthen the years of utilization of these solar panels.

Manual cleanup routines done by maintenance employees with the use of water and soap twice a month aims to lengthens the span of time wherein it can benefit from clean energy from the solar panels.

Even up to this date, there has been no reported problem regarding the solar power project in the delivery of energy needs to the campus despite the unpredictable weather conditions over the years since the program started. Over the years, the solar panel project has smoothly provided the energy needs of the University.
