Added to the 10 solar panels installed earlier last year, 6 were added recently in order to increase the energy supply needed for the farm operations.
From the main campuses of Foundation University located in Dumaguete City, the solar project has began its expansion at the University’s demonstration farm in Azagra, Tanjay City to suffice the energy consumption needs of the facility in all its daily operations.
The energy from the solar panels will augment the consumption at farm for the new water pump and the plumbing system for the irrigation. Thus, the said action maximizes the means of preserving and protecting the environment from harmful factors concerning energy consumption. Furthermore, the move of the University is set to expand the solar power project and to lessen the carbon footprint.
Energy loads generated from the solar panels will be used for the operations of the water pump – the main water resource provider in the poultry and dairy farm. This is the same water system used to water the organic farm-grown vegetables and fruits produced in the said facility.
