We are delighted to inform you that the next shipment of solar lanterns has arrived in Sri Lanka, and our partner there, World Vision Lanka, has begun distribution. The main focus has been school children from underserved and poor neighborhoods. We firmly believe that access to reliable lighting can significantly enhance their educational experience and overall quality of life. Solar lanterns have been distributed among these children, enabling them to study and engage in activities even after sunset.
Our partner and supporter, Praveen Fernandopulle, also traveled to the Sri Lanka a few weeks ago on SEI business and also in support of his own charity, Rise & Shine. He carried with him about three dozen solar lanterns. Additionally, he brought with him new types of solar lanterns and rechargeable solar light bulbs which handed out to gather feedback and assess the feasibility of incorporating this technology into future projects. We are also pleased to announce, thanks to Praveen's efforts, that we have signed a tri-party agreement with the Diabetes Association of Sri Lanka and World Vision Lanka to incorporate solar lantern distributions into their existing nutritional and disease prevention workshops. This collaboration will allow us to reach a wider audience and integrate solar lighting solutions into their educational programs. By combining efforts, we can create a more holistic approach to community development.
To that end, we are planning on merging with Rise & Shine. This will capitalize on Praveen's drive and imagination, as well as his roots in Sri Lanka and his intimate knowledge of the country and its language. Expect to see the scope and impact of our work in Sri Lanka expand significantly. I will serve as the Treasurer for Rise & Shine, and also as a member of the board.
