Dear Kind Supporter,
We are pleased to let you know that 200 girl students received solar lamps in December 2014 and January 2015 bringing the total number of individual students who have received solar lamps to 1600.
This year 800 more students in the Sundarbans will receive solar lamps. It is quite amazing how a gift of one lamp can bring so many benefits. It helps to advance a student's studies while saving his/her family the money they would otherwise require to purchase kerosene for lighting. The other siblings of the student benefit when they share the light for their studies. The mother can use the lamp for cooking after the student is done with studies. These are all students from poor and ultra poor families who otherwise would not be able to afford to purchase a solar lamp.
The need in the area is still enormous with over 3000 students requiring solar lamps. Microsoft Youthsparks Bonus Day starts tomorrow at 9 am EDT. Do take this opportunity to continue your support for the needy students of the Sundarbans!
In gratitude,
Diti
