During this school year, school children stayed mostly in their houses all the time. Parents who work for a living, teaches their kids at night. According to Mr. Belen, a mother of four “Having four(4) kids is not that easy, I need to guide them in their study every night after dinner because that’s the only time I have.” She also told us the value of having solar lantern which played an important role in their life. She wasn’t able to teach them because of her work in the farm during day time. With handful of kids, she needs to secure time to teach each of them every night.
Implementation of the project will resume as soon as we can assure the safety of both volunteers and beneficiaries, as we all know COVID-19 is just around the corner. With these limitations, most of the coordination meetings were done through online and phone calls. We are hoping that for the next couple of months, everything will be settle and become safe for everyone to travel.
