The coordination meeting with Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines District 380 Board members resulted to a meaningful project. The group decided to distribute 70 solar lamps and 3 solar streetlights to Barangay Poblacion, Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro.
After numerous paper works and meetings, the project was materialized in November 25, 2019. With 10 volunteers from Inner Wheel Club and few staffs from Global Peace Foundation, the project was implemented in 3 sitios in the barangay with 70 indigenous peoples residing in the area.
Our group travelled from Manila to the province of Mindoro a day before the implementation and slept in the island for a night. As early as 6:00 AM, everyone is already prepared for a short ride to the project site. All 70 families gathered to wait for us at the foot of the mountain where their villages are located.
The town Mayor, Hon. Ferdinand Maliwanag attended and witnessed the actual distribution of solar lights and gave a short message of appreciation at the program. Aside from solar lamps, the team of volunteers also distributed grocery packs and toiletries to all beneficiaries as their early Christmas gifts.
All beneficiaries expressed their deep gratitude for the solar lights and gifts they received from Global Peace Foundation, donors, and partner organizations.
